A £3m rolling renovation programme has seen Seaham Hall rise up the ranks to become known as one of the finest hotels in the North East. General manager Ross Grieve – previously of The Chester Grosvenor – was brought in by the company in March 2013 to bolster the refurbishment project, and he fully took on the challenge and ramped it up to full gear.
Ross’s excellent attention to detail and unsurpassed customer service helped restore the hotel to its former glory and the plethora of awards Seaham Hall has won in all areas of the business as a result of Ross being at the helm proves just how crucial he has been to the hotel’s upward spike.
Overseeing a quick-paced, rolling £3m refurbishment programme almost as soon as he stepped into his role as general manager, Ross took everything in his stride, executing the renovation of the historic property down to the finishing touches.
March 2014 saw the hotel regain its five-star status and Ross was deservedly promoted to managing director in October 2015, with responsibility for rolling out a new portfolio on behalf of the hotel’s owners.
Ross is the driving force behind new ideas and innovations at Seaham Hall; spa membership is rapidly increasingly, a new and versatile meeting space has helped boost local business and two new suites are planned for this year, demonstrating his continued impetus.
His uncompromising attitude towards high standards goes hand in hand with Ross’s belief that hotel management is all about people and relationships, not just the fabric of
the property, however luxurious or well-equipped the hotel may be.
He is a progressive leader unafraid of change and this, in turn, is a great motivator for the staff at Seaham. He has been a member of St Julian’s Scholarship since 2004, as well as being a member of the NEHA Executive Committee, British Hoteliers’ Association and Institute of Hospitality.
