Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons isn’t a property that hires anyone who is less than exceptional, but Laura Godman is definitely stands out from the rest as one to watch.
She is front of house manager at the iconic boutique hotel and since being appointed she has worked hard to build a strong team of dynamic young professionals around her, championing each member of the department to excel.
Despite having a short break from Le Manoir in 2015 – she went to work at South Lodge Hotel for six months – her experience at Le Manoir dates back to 2011 when she first joined as restaurant receptionist. The way she worked her way up through the ranks is testament to her passion and dedication to succeed; she is never afraid to get stuck in and sees no task as too great or small. Her plethora of revenue-generating ideas includes creating a weekly newsletter for regular guests, designed to showcase subtle upsells and her ambition saw her set the target of using it to generate £12k of extra revenue per annum.
She regularly assesses practices in place within her department and strives to create better ways of working for her team. She developed a ‘Service Star’ exercise among her team and always provides a rota up to six weeks in advance to help staff maintain a work / life balance. Her star shines beyond the hotel as well. She consults on the Hotel Management Consultancy Project for the University of Bournemouth and is an active member of the Association of Deputy Managers and Reception Heads.
