In just over two years, Tim Seward, general manager of Cliff House Hotel has become not just an inspirational part of the boutique business where he works, but also a key member of the local tourism community, striving to put both his hotel and its location on the map.
Cliff House Hotel is a 14-bedroom boutique hotel in Southbourne, with the tagline, ‘relax, revive and refresh’ and it’s this experience that Tim ensures is delivered to every guest. The business is owned by Andrew Gosling, and marked his first hotel project when it opened in spring 2014; something he says he couldn’t have done without Tim on board. “Tim has made my life so much easier!” he says.
Since then Tim has been working tirelessly to make Cliff House the best it can be – overseeing an ongoing refurbishment programme of the restaurant, public areas and bedrooms, hiring new members of staff, launching a new bar concept and continuously coming up with new ideas to bring people in.
Tim’s individual flair doesn’t mean he is a closed book when it comes to integrating with other hoteliers in the area. As Bournemouth Chamber of Trade & Commerce executive board director, committee member on BAHA (Bournemouth Accommodation and Hospitality Association), plus vice chair for SOSBA, (Southbourne on Sea Borough Association), Tim knows the importance of camaraderie in the local sector. Tim uses his contacts, vision and negotiating skills, plus marketing techniques and expertise to host extraordinary events for the region, making a huge success of each one and bringing together the local community. His commitment to the Chamber has been described as ‘immense and so highly valued’.
His work in promoting Bournemouth’s tourism sector doesn’t mean he neglects his duties at Cliff House however, quite the opposite. He is dedicated to nurturing each employee through a balance of discipline and development and promotes a real family feel throughout the hotel.
